JOSEPH LOWRY OF SIX BROTHERS CONCRETE PUMPING DONATES $1,042 TO LA MARQUE LITTLE LEAGUE

LA MARQUE, TEXAS (February 15, 2019) In December 2018, La Marque Little League’s storage shed at Bobby Beach Park in La Marque was robbed, leaving the organization scrambling for baseball gear and field maintenance equipment for the upcoming season. Joseph Lowry, La Marque citizen and business owner, saw a Facebook post about a GoFundMe account, which prompted his generous donation on of 1,042 one-dollar bills on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Lowry recently sold a fitness gym and the brick of one-dollar bills came from his vending machine.
“Anything for the kids,” said Lowry. “I saw they needed equipment and I hope this money can help them get the season started right.”
Registration for La Marque Little League is open, and practice will begin soon. In addition to equipment, La Marque Little League needs kids to register and parents to volunteer as coaches. Interested families are encouraged to attend the Information and Registration Event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at La Marque Public Library. Online registration is required, so Library computers will be available for parents and guardians. Games are played at Bobby Beach Stadium, 800 Westward Avenue in La Marque, Texas. La Marque Councilman Chris Lane has been working with La Marque Little League for several years to rebuild the program and secure corporate sponsorships as part of his youth engagement initiatives. According to DJ Arvie, La Marque Little League President, the City of La Marque’s support has made an immeasurable impact on the youth in our community.
“Today, most schools are cutting back on physical education programs; kids are devoting more time to technology-driven activities that keep them inside, inactive, and apart from physical interaction with others their age,” said Arvie. “I am involved because in a world where interactions are increasingly impersonal and indirect, Little League provides a place where kids can have fun, where they can learn important life lessons. It provides a sense of connection across generations, common ground between parent and child and a reminder of what binds us together as a community.”
