I STAND CORRECTED I received a missive form Colleen Merritt, La Marque’s Public Relations Guru to the effect that I was misspelling the name of my neighbor. Being named Hart, I am painfully aware of the repercussion of having a name that is misspelled or otherwise mishandled, so I take this very seriously. NOTE TO SELF AND EVERYONE ELSE: LA MARQUE IS TWO WORDS, not one. Here is the explanation: “Please join us in our efforts to correct the spelling of our city name. When La Marque was chartered, it was spelled with two words. Our name is French for “the mark” or “the spot”. Over time, it got smashed together and now it is inconsistent across our community. We are patiently trying to correct the misspelling. We appreciate you, as our media partner and friend, ensuring La Marque is spelled correctly in The Post Newspaper and special media posts.” Our sincere thanks to Ms. Merritt for pointing out the mistake in such a kind and genteel manner. Nice to know manners still exist, N’est ce Pas?
