Dear Friends,
As coronavirus, COVID-19, continues to spread across the U.S. and the globe, I wanted to let you know what United Way Galveston County Mainland is doing to respond.
The health and safety of the community and its residents is our number one priority. Our local focus, in concert with our community impact partners, is working to improve the lives of local children, students, families and those in emergency situations. Now, the people we serve may be even more vulnerable during this public health emergency.
Our United Way Impact involves working closely with local community partner agencies and community officials to deliver direct services to those in need across Galveston County Mainland Communities. We are sending surveys to our partner agencies to understand and assess the challenges they are encountering and how, together, we can address any needs resulting from this pandemic.
As a convener of local volunteers, community partners, donors and residents, we are monitoring the situation closely and remain vigilant about how and when we come together. We have cancelled and/or postponed various United Way group meetings. We have also paused our VITA program and will continue to reassess our calendar in the upcoming days and months. Also, please know that we are keeping the channels of communication open and virtual options are always available for those who need to communicate with us.
Please be assured that while we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we are also focused on providing continued service to the community. We are taking steps to ensure we can continue to deliver the same high level of quality and engagement internally and externally during these unique circumstances.
Thank you for your patience and for doing your part. As we navigate this time of uncertainty, I want to reaffirm the power of working together to LIVE UNITED.
We are here if you need us.
