ERIC BERGER, editor: A certified meteorologist, Eric has written about weather in the Houston area for more than a decade. You may have seen his hurricane coverage in the Houston Chronicle as Eric “SciGuy” Berger, but now he brings that same kind of no-nonsense coverage of weather in and around Houston to Space City Weather.

From Texas-La Marque Chamber of Commerce

The annual “Hurricane Forecast & Emergency Preparedness” Business Luncheon will be hosted by the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, June 9, from 11:30am-1:00pm at the Doyle Convention Center (2010 5th Avenue N., Texas City).  The program will deliver the latest information to the community about the hurricane season and essential ways to prepare and protect businesses, homes and assets.

In addition to vital information to prepare for hurricane season, this luncheon provides a great opportunity for community members to network with local business owners/managers, civic leaders and elected officials.  A catered lunch is served.

The featured speaker will be Eric Berger of Space City Weather, the premiere online source for weather information in the greater Houston region. Berger is also Senior Space Editor for Ars Technica. He is a certified meteorologist who operates the Space City Weather blog, a hype-free weather site for Houston and the Gulf Coast. He is one of the most trusted people in the region and has been called “the Walter Kronkite of weather” with his straight-forward predictions and forecasting style.

The Chamber recognizes the following sponsors for making the event possible: AMOCO Federal Credit Union, City of Texas City, Eastman, Marathon, TNMP and Valero. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Tickets and reserved tables are now on sale.  Social distancing practices will be in place at the event. For more information or to order tickets call the Chamber at 409-935-1408 or email Jessica Spangle, Operations & Events Manager, at jessica@texascitychamber.com.
