In The Hood

Three generations of women smiling outdoors

As a Mother, Grandmother and a Great Grandmother, I can tell you I’ve experienced many, many years of Mother’s Day celebrations. Last year was the worst by far as I was in the hospital and couldn’t have visitors, so it was rather blah. But I spent the day relying on the memories of past celebrations. So many fun times of children making me breakfast and coffee, and feeling so proud of themselves as they served me. Special gifts from the children and from my late husband that always were perfect. I mean who knew there were so many ways to make art out of macaroni and gold spray paint? It is a wonderful thing to have a special day to celebrate mothers. But, how about we don’t leave it for just a day this year?  One day we may not have our moms to shower a little extra love upon. How hard would it be to take a few hours out of our busy schedules to show mom a little extra love and kindness on any given Sunday? This year, as things begin to open up, let’s put our hearts into showing moms some extra appreciation. I promise that one day you will look back and be so glad that you did.  And Happy Mother’s Day to each of you who are blessed to live in the most precious hood of all: Motherhood
