Memorial Day weekend means not only baseball, but the start of the annual Texas STAR Tournament, which officially began on Saturday. The contest, as usual, will have a ton of prizes and scholarships on the line between now and Labor Day. Meanwhile, the Astros continue a challenging stretch that sees the Padres leaving town and the surprising Red Sox rolling in.
Sunday: The Astros complete their weekend series with the Padres beginning at 1:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins coverage at 12:30pm with the pregame show.
Monday: Memorial Day afternoon will see the Astros welcoming the American League East-leading Red Sox for a potential four-game playoff preview at Minute Maid Park. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 2:30pm. The game can also be seen on ESPN at 3:00pm.
Memorial Day also means the first full week of the annual Texas STAR Tournament, which gives current CCA members the opportunity to win a share of over $1 million in prizes and scholarships. The 2021 version has been revised, as the Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead and Gafftop Divisions have been removed due to the impact of the winter storm that punished the area in mid-February.
