There’s no reason why you can’t find a sporting event this week. If they’re playing it, it’s going to be either local or on television.

Wednesday: Texas City’s volleyball team faces host Baytown Sterling at 4:30pm in a match that was postponed due to last week’s Hurricane Nicholas.

The Astros continue their series at the Angels at 8:38pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins the pregame show at 8:00pm. The game will also be part of the ESPN+ package.

Thursday: Clear Springs gets the high school football weekend underway when the Chargers collide with Conroe at Challenger/Columbia Stadium at 7:00pm.

In cross-country, Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Clear Falls (girls) will be among the schools participating in the Longhorn Stampede hosted by Dobie. The meet begins at 7:00am.

The 1-1 Texans host the 2-0 Panthers for a Thursday Night Football matchup beginning at 7:20pm. The game will be aired live on NFL Network.

It’s farewell to Los Angeles (at least for now…) as the Astros wrap up their series against the Angels. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts the pregame show at 8:00pm, leading into the 8:38pm gametime.

Friday: The high school volleyball schedule starts at 4:30pm with Goose Creek Memorial at Galveston Ball, followed by Dickinson at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Lake and Hitchcock at Hempstead at 6:00pm. Atascocita at Clear Falls, Brazoswood at Clear Springs, Santa Fe at Friendswood and Texas City at La Porte each start at 6:30pm.

A busy night of high school football kicks off with Clear Lake at Clear Brook (Challenger/Columbia), Clear Creek at Brazoswood, Dickinson at Clear Falls (CCISD Veterans Memorial), Conroe at Clear Springs, Goose Creek, Friendswood at Baytown Lee, Goose Creek Memorial at Galveston Ball, Huffman-Hargrave at La Marque and Texas City at Santa Fe each beginning at 7:00pm. Hitchcock at Houston Christian starts at 7:30pm.

In high school tennis, Lamar at Clear Springs begins at 3:00pm, followed by Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City at 4:00pm.

Santa Fe’s cross-country team heads out to the Fort Bend Kempner Classic.

The Astros will seek to put the American League West title into their trophy case as they open a weekend set at the Athletics, who entered the week 7.5 games behind Houston. Gametime is at 8:40pm, with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest beginning coverage with the pregame show at 8:00pm.

Saturday: Clear Falls and Clear Springs will be among the teams participating in the State Preview meet, which will be held in Round Rock, site of November’s state finals.

Texas City’s swimming team visits Angleton where they will compete in the Gulf Coast Sprintathon Invitational starting at 9:00am.

A huge day of college football starts at 11:00am when Texas Tech visits Texas (KTRK13), followed by #7 Texas A&M at #16 Arkansas (KHOU11) and #14 Iowa State at Baylor (KRIV26) at 2:30pm. Sam Houston State at Central Arkansas (ESPN+) and Grambling vs. Prairie View (at Dallas’ Cotton Bowl) are each starting at 4:00pm. Abilene Christian at Lamar (ESPN3) and Texas Southern at Rice (ESPN3) both kickoff at 5:30pm.

Under the lights, Navy at Houston (ESPNU) and Lincoln University at Stephen F. Austin (ESPN+) both start at 6:00pm.

The Astros will continue their series at the Athletics beginning at 3:07pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 2:30pm.
