New week brings bountiful harvest of sports

The first week of October opens with a host of volleyball matches on Tuesday. Prior to that, Sunday offers the Texans, Cowboys and Texans, while Monday provides a taste of high school softball.

Sunday: The Texans will look to avoid a third straight loss when they visit the Bills beginning at 12:00pm. The game will be live on KHOU11.

Up I-45, the Cowboys will seek a third straight win at the expense of a Panthers team that is one of five teams that entered Week 4 with an undefeated record. KRIV26 will have that game at 12:00pm.

The American League West champion Astros face the Athletics in their regular season finale beginning at 2:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage 

Monday: The high school softball fall league schedule continues when Manvel visits Texas City at 7:30pm.

Tuesday: The first volleyball matches of the month begin with Clear Brook at Clear Lake, Brazoswood at Clear Creek, Dickinson at Clear Falls, and Hitchcock at Van Vleck at 6:00pm. Goose Creek Memorial at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, La Marque at Needville, and Texas City at Manvel are each 6:30pm starts. 

The tennis slate has Dickinson at Clear Lake and Clear Springs at Clear Brook at 3:00pm. La Porte at Texas City starts at 4:00pm.

In high school baseball fall league play, Texas City visits Santa Fe at 5:00pm.
