Astros fans are hoping they won’t have to worry about Wednesday, as Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series is slated to be played if Houston did not take care of business at Chicago on Monday. The weekend is highlighted by area cross-country runners setting the stage for state title dreams when district meets begin.

Wednesday: Hitchcock will compete in the District 24-3A cross-country meet at Brazos beginning at 8:00am.

If Necessary, the Astros will host the White Sox in a decisive Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series. The two teams played Game 4 in Chicago on Monday afternoon, with Houston leading the series, 2-1. Time and broadcasting outlet will be announced on Monday, again, if necessary.

Thursday: Both District 22-5A and District 24-6A will host their respective cross-country meets, with La Porte’s Northwestern Park being the site of the 22-5A meet at 8:00am, while 24-6A will be held in Brazoswood at 7:00am.

Friday: A busy night of high school football starts with Clear Brook at Brazoswood, Clear Springs at Clear Creek (Veterans Memorial), Clear Lake at Clear Falls (Challenger/Columbia), Friendswood at La Porte, Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball, and Brookshire at La Marque each starting at 7:00pm. Hempstead at Hitchcock, Santa Fe at Barbers Hill, and Texas City at Crosby (game can be listened to on victorysportsnet.com) each start at 7:30pm.

An equally busy slate of high school volleyball gets underway when Houston St. Agnes at Dickinson beginning at 5:30pm, followed by Brazoswood at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Springs, Clear Falls at Clear Lake, Hempstead at Hitchcock, and Brazosport at La Marque at 6:00pm. Baytown Lee at Friendswood, and Santa Fe at Galveston Ball are each 6:30pm starts.

The Rockets play their final preseason game when they visit the Spurs at 7:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet starts coverage with the pregame show at 7:00pm.

Saturday: The college football schedule starts with #12 Oklahoma State at #25 Texas (ABC), and #21 Texas A&M at Missouri (SEC Network) at 11:00am. Prairie View at Bethune-Cookman kicks off at 12:00pm, with TSU at Grambling at 2:00pm and Lamar at ACU (ESPN+) at 3:00pm.
