
Much of the focus will be on the Astros’ bid to win its second World Series, but the weekend is also the penultimate week of the high school football regular season along with the first scrimmages of the 2021-22 high school girls’ hoops season.
Wednesday: The Astros host the Braves in Game 2 of the World Series, with Fox26 airing the game at 7:09pm.
Thursday: The Rockets host the Jazz for a 7:00pm start. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
Friday: With just two weeks left in the regular season, the high school football season begins to ramp up the intensity as Clear Falls at Clear Creek (Challenger/Columbia), Clear Springs at Dickinson, Friendswood at Galveston Ball and Bellville at La Marque each begin at 7:00pm. Yoakum at Hitchcock, Santa Fe at Crosby and Texas City at Port-Neches Groves (game can be listened to online at victorysportsnet.com) each start at 7:00pm.
The area’s only high school volleyball playoff tune-up will have Cy Fair at Clear Creek starting at 5:30pm.
Game 3 of the World Series moves to Atlanta, where they will host Houston on Fox26 starting at 7:09pm.
Saturday: The first high school girls’ basketball scrimmages start with Clear Springs hosting Seven Lakes and Manvel at 8:00am, followed by Clear Brook at La Porte and Clear Falls’ team scrimmage at 9:00am, while Galveston Ball at La Porte and Danbury at Santa Fe start at 10:00am.
The college football slate kicks off with Texas at #16 Baylor (ABC13) at 11:00am, followed by Lamar at Eastern Kentucky (ESPN+) and North Texas at Rice at 1:00pm. Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Texas Southern (ESPN+) starts at 2:00pm, followed by Houston Baptist at Incarnate Word (ESPN+) at 3:00pm, Abilene Christian at Stephen F. Austin (ESPN+) at 4:00pm, and Sam Houston State at Tarleton (ESPN+) at 5:00pm. #19 SMU visits Houston at 6:00pm.
