The winter break is upon us, which means high school sports will be limited over the next couple of weeks. There’s still an ample amount of events, including a Tuesday filled with boys’ and girls’ basketball along with soccer scrimmages.
Unlike last week, when both the Texans and Cowboys were on Fox — leaving local Dallas fans hung out — Houston is back on its usual KHOU11 home, while the Cowboys will be able to be seen on KRIV26.
Sunday: The Texans visit the Jaguars, who will be without head coach Urban Meyer, who was fired late Wednesday night, beginning at 12:00pm. The game will be on KHOU11, which is a huge relief for Cowboys fans, who will be able to catch their showdown at the Giants, which also airs at 12:00pm, but will be aired on KRIV26.
Monday: With high schools on winter break, the schedules will be light and loose for the next couple of weeks. An example of that is the girls’ basketball schedule, which has just Fort Bend Kempner at Clear Falls beginning at 1:00pm.
The high school boys’ hoops slate will have Texas City at Cinco Ranch at 1:00pm, while state-ranked Hitchcock visits Boling at 5:00pm.
The Rockets visit a Bulls team that has been one of the surprises of the season. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts the pregame show at 6:30pm, leading into the game at 7:00pm.
Tuesday: The high school boys’ basketball schedule will have state-ranked Hitchcock at Galveston O’Connell at 12:00pm, followed by state-ranked Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls and Dickinson at Brazoswood at 1:00pm. Galveston Ball at Santa Fe starts at 1:30pm, while Friendswood at Baytown Lee tips off at 7:00pm.
In high school girls’ basketball, St. Agnes at state-ranked Clear Brook and Baytown Lee at Friendswood both tip off at 1:00pm, while Santa Fe at Galveston Ball starts at 1:30pm. Hitchcock at Bowling start at 6:30pm.
High school soccer scrimmages continue with Clear Falls at Alvin (boys’) and Clear Springs at Texas City (girls’) both starting at 1:00pm. Humble at Clear Brook (girls’) starts at 7:30pm.
