
The 2022 high school football regular season gets underway as each of the area’s teams hit the field. Among the featured games are La Marque and Galveston Ball renewing the annual Clash of the Causeway, Friendswood visits Texas City in the head coaching debut of new Stings lead man Shone Evans, while Dickinson meets Atascocita in a big 6A Region III matchup.
Wednesday: The Astros continue their series with the visiting Twins at 7:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage of the game starting with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
Thursday: Clear Creek kicks off the 2022 high school football regular season when the Wildcats welcome Kingwood at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 6:00pm. Dickinson also kicks off its season with a high-profile showdown at fellow 6A Region III powerhouse Atascocita at 7:00pm.
The last Thursday of the month also means high school volleyball tournaments, with Clear Springs and Santa Fe taking part in the VolleyPalooza Tourney in Austin, while Friendswood is at the Leander Tournament. Galveston Ball, Hitchcock and La Marque are in the Spartan Tourney in Stafford, with Texas City heading to Dayton to participate in the Bronco Tournament.
Houston’s three-game set against Minnesota concludes with a 7:10pm start. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts at 6:30pm with the pregame show.

Refugio at Hitchcock begins at 7:30pm.
The high school volleyball slate will have Clear Brook at Cy Creek at 5:30pm, followed by College Station at Clear Creek at 6:00pm. Galveston Ball takes time from the Spartan Tournament to visit Pasadena Memorial at 6:30pm
The Astros open a weekend set against an Orioles team that has surprisingly put themselves in the American League Wild Card chase. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts the pregame show at 6:30pm, leading into the 7:10pm start time.
Saturday: College football’s Zero Week will have Stephen F. Austin taking on Jacksonville State starting at 2:30pm in a game that can be seen on ESPN.
