Greetings from the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. The TWIA Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, April 18 at 2:30 p.m. CT to receive an update and take possible action on the Association’s reinsurance purchase for the 2023 storm season. The meeting agenda is available on TWIA’s website.
As the Board directed at its February meeting, the Association’s reinsurance broker, Gallagher Re, will present information to the Board on the reinsurance market, including pricing and purchase options for the potential purchase of reinsurance in excess of the 1:100 Probable Maximum Loss (PML) for the 2023 storm season.
The 1:100 PML was determined by the Board at its January meeting. The cost for any reinsurance above the PML would be paid by member insurance companies through an assessment. Insurance companies that issue property and casualty insurance policies in Texas are required by law to be members of the Association.
All meetings of the TWIA Board of Directors and its committees are open to the public. The public may attend and make public comments in person at TIWA’s office in Austin or virtually via Zoom. Members of the Board and staff may participate in the meeting in person or virtually. The meeting will also be live streamed on YouTube.
