Fellow Texan, On Monday, September 23rd at 9AM at Moody Gardens, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) will be hosting a public town hall to hear from TWIA policyholders on Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s (TWIA) proposed 10% rate increase. Please make plans to attend this important meeting and voice your opposition to TWIA’s 10% rate hike for all windstorm policies.
At the August TWIA Board meeting, the Board of Directors ignored public comments from over 1,000 policyholders opposed to the rate hike and voted to proceed with increasing rates by 10%. Below is a copy of the letter I sent to the Board of Directors in opposition to this outrageous rate hike.
TWIA is the insurer of last resort for the Texas Coast. The egregious 10% rate hike hurts our community and causes hardworking Coastal Texans and small businesses to not be able to afford to live and work on the Texas Gulf Coast.
