High school baseball, softball approach end of regular season

As April slowly pushes into May, the sports schedule becomes less busy. The start of the week is evident of that, with a hefty dose of high school baseball and softball along with the Astros and Rockets to fill out the slate.

Sunday: The Astros conclude a weekend series at the Mariners beginning at 3:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins coverage with the pregame show at 2:30pm.

The Rockets make their only road swing to Florida, beginning with a 6:00pm start against the Magic. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage (territorial restrictions apply) beginning with the pregame show at 5:30pm.

Monday: Texas City’s girls’ water polo team will compete in the regional round of the state playoffs. Time and location was not available as of press time.

Tuesday: The final week of the high school softball regular season play starts with Hempstead at Hitchcock at 5:00pm, followed by Crosby at Clear Brook at 6:15pm. Baytown Sterling at Friendswood, Santa Fe at La Porte and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City are each 6:30pm starts.

In high school baseball, Clear Creek at Clear Falls, Clear Springs at Dickinson, Friendswood at Baytown Sterling and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City each start at 6:00pm. Hitchcock at Hempstead, La Marque at Brazosport and La Porte at Santa Fe each start at 7:00pm.

Houston makes its sole visit to Miami when the Rockets meet the Heat at 7:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage (territorial restrictions apply) with the pregame show at 6:30pm.

The Astros open a brief two-game series at the Rockies, with gametime scheduled for 7:40pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 7:00pm.
