Kota earns Valedictorian spot for Ball High Class of 2021

Galveston ISD’s Ball High School is proud to announce its valedictorian and salutatorians for the 2020-2021 school year. Shashank Kota, son of Divya Nagpal and Venkat Kota, is this years’ top ranked student. There was an exact tie for number two spot between Emeline Howrey, daughter of Kristen Peek and Bret Howrey and Ellie Gao, daughter of Yan Gao and Zucheng Gao.

1.       Shashank Kota GPA: 4.803

 Accepted to The University of Texas computer science/business program.

Quote: “Ball High has done a great job preparing me for college. My teachers have been supportive and the extracurriculars offered here are excellent.”

Favorite Teacher: Mr. McIntyre

 2.       Emeline Howrey GPA: 4.753

 Accepted to The University of Texas and will major in liberal arts.

Quote: “I think Ball High is a good environment to learn. It is very diverse and the teachers did a very good job preparing me. I didn’t enjoy every class I took but I learned in each one of them.”

Favorite Teacher: Mr. Langevine

 2.       Ellie Gao GPA: 4.753

 Accepted to Harvard College and will major in chemistry.

Quote: “Ball High School has been supportive academically and personally. I’ve connected with teachers and they have helped me achieve my goals.”

Favorite Teacher: Mrs. Sjostrom
