Harry Wesley Monych, III, 80, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Santa Fe, Texas. He was born on November 16, 1945, in Galveston, Texas.

Harry graduated from Ball High School in Galveston and later attended Alvin Junior College. He began his career in the newspaper industry working for The Galveston News. His passion for journalism and dedication to the communities he served led him to become the owner, editor, and publisher of The Santa Fe Bulletin and The La Marque Times. Throughout his career, Harry took great pride in keeping his communities informed and connected. Beyond his work in journalism, he served as President of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and was a longtime member of the city’s Planning Commission, reflecting his deep commitment to the growth and betterment of his community.

Above all, Harry’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished every moment spent with those he loved. A hardworking man with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing the stories and humor that made time spent with him so memorable.

One of Harry’s most treasured memories was the special bond he shared with his father through their mutual love of raising horses and attending countless horse shows together. He also possessed a beautiful singing voice, which he generously shared during church services and weddings, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to hear him.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry, Jr., and Lucille (Gandy) Monych.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pam (Asher) Monych; his sons, Harry Wesley Monych, IV, and Jeffery Monych and his wife, Jennifer (Syers); his grandchildren, Lexi and Khloe Monych, Jason Monych and his wife, Morgan (Hodges), and Justin Monych and his wife, Alexis (Anderson); his great-grandchildren, Dahlia, Magnolia, and Jent Monych; and his sisters, Pat Monych and Betty (Monych) and husband, Louis Schoenbaechler.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice Care Team, especially Jeri and Angelicia, for their compassionate care and support. A very special thank-you goes to Linda (Lemire) Syers, who stood faithfully by the family’s side day in and day out, providing invaluable help and support for Harry and his loved ones. Her kindness and unwavering dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Santa Fe, Texas 77510, on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Russell McLaughlin officiating.
