THE GALVESTON COUNTY Criminal District Attorney’s Office has received federal funding to promote community
awareness of crime victims’ rights and services during 2019 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 7 – 13,
2019). The theme for 2019 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the
Future.”

Sunday, April 7, 2019, 6:00pm thru 7:00pm: A candlelight vigil will be held at the Texas City
Police Department, 1004 9th Ave. North, Texas City. To remember and honor all victims of crime in the
Galveston County area. Following the vigil, at 7:30 p.m., a recognition of Galveston County Law
Enforcement and Victim Service Providers. Participants will receive NCVRW t-shirts (while supplies last)
Monday, April 8, 2019, 4:30pm thru 7:00pm: Resource Fair at the League City Civic Center, 400
W. Walker Street, League City. Includes a DJ, dancing, food, clown making balloon animals, face painting,
haircuts for kids, K-9 demos, fire trucks, police cars and more. Bring your family and enjoy a free night of
food and entertainment.
Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 11:00am: Annual Luncheon at the Alvin Senior Center, 309 Sealy Street,
Alvin. The event will honor and remember all crime victims.
Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 6:00pm: Santa Fe School Art Contest, Santa Fe Resiliency Center, 13217
FM 1764, Santa Fe. To encourage students’ artistic talents and sponsors can educate them about the
impact of crime on individuals, families, schools and their own community.
Wednesday, April 10, 2019, 6:00pm: “Take Back the Night Walk” at 45th and Seawall, Galveston.
Mile-long walk, hosted by the Resource and Crisis Center in support of victims and survivors of sexual
assault. Participants will receive a t-shirt (while supplies last).
Thursday, April 11, 2019, 9:00am thru 1:00pm: League City Police Department, 555 W. Walker
Street, League City. The LCPD will host a blood drive.
Thursday, April 11, 2019, 11:00am to 1:00pm: Prayers and Potlucks training at Rosenberg Library, 2310
Sealy Street, Galveston. Training to encourage strengthen community alliances with faith-based
communities with a focus on best practices for tailoring education and outreach. Registration is
required.
Saturday, April 13, 2019, 8:00am: Crime Victims’ 5K Walk/Run to begin at 45th and Seawall, Galveston.
5K walk hosted by the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. This is a free event.
