DHS One-Act Play advancing
Next stop: Area Contest Saturday
The Dickinson High School One Act Play, “August: Osage County,” is moving to the third round of UIL
competition as they prepare to compete at the Area Contest on Saturday, April 6. They were one of three
teams chosen to advance after their performance at the Bi-District Contest last week.

The Area Contest will take place at San Jacinto College Central, 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena.
Shows will begin at 2 p.m. and Dickinson will be the fifth show to perform. Shows run back to back, so
Dickinson is expected to take the stage sometime between 5-6 p.m. At the end of the night, the top three
performing schools will earn the opportunity to advance to the Region Contest, where the top two
performing schools will move on to the State UIL One-Act Play Contest.

At the Bi-District Contest last week, several students were honored with individual awards. Nyah Taylor
and Alonzo Rangel earned All Star Cast awards, Carolyn Richard received Honorable Mention All Star
Cast and Jacob Zamarripa brought home the Top Technician Award.
