The Village of Tuscan Lakes is proud to present Debora A. Smith, a return vendor at our Artisan and Home Décor Market. Debora is an avid wade fisherman, which has led her to discover the beauty of the bay fish and wildlife. She uses a traditional Japanese art technique called direct gyotaku (fish imprinting) which involves applying the paint directly on the body of the fish and then pressing muslin cloth to receive the image. Debora feels the fish imprints are a way of sharing the beauty and splendor of the bay. Each of her items is as unique as the fish themselves, so no two items are alike. Her items will be a great addition to anyone’s home. Roz Evans was born in Louisiana and in 1969 she moved to Houston finally landing in Kemah. Her son Brent, a chef, moved to Kemah in 2009. Undergoing chemotherapy, he could not work in the kitchen during his treatment. Therefore, being an artist and always having a love for stones, he created Ergo Custom Jewelry Designs. Roz and Brent started working together designing one-of-kind custom pieces, using natural stones and selling at local markets. His signature piece was the mermaid. Brent lost his battle to cancer at age 36 in 2016. He asked me to continue creating designs in his memory. Every piece that Roz makes is touched by an angel. “Simply the Best” began nine years ago with two best friends and neighbors, Susan Blalock and Jana Strickland. They make gourmet jellies, butters, packaged soup and dip mixes and a variety of pickles and relishes. Additionally, they make seasonal home décor products including wire and beaded serving pieces, cutting boards, monogrammed letters, wooden door hangers, floral arrangements, glass block lights, giving plates, yard art, wine bottle necklaces and bookmarks. Their products are made with a passion to please our clients and they are “Simply the Best”! Stop by their booth and sample some of their delicious items. Donna Hale is a new vendor to our 3rd Annual Artisan and Home Décor Market. Donna has always “crafted”. Using products from Nature, she had a thriving Partridge Berry wreath business, making the New England traditional living Christmas holiday centerpieces while living in New Hampshire. Returning to Texas, she cut back drastically on her crafting. Now retired, she works with cement and fabric to create “coral-like” planters. “Working with organic and natural materials has been very satisfying to her. When she turns a planter out, I never really know how it will look like and that’s the best part!” Donna’s work is truly one of a kind; you don’t want to miss her booth. Teri Dismukes, Owner of Backwoods Essentials, started with the idea of making products that are more natural, work well, less harmful to our environment and offer the benefits of essential oils. Discovering essential oils has changed her life and she looks forward daily to find ways to incorporate these little gems that nature gives to us. Judy Foster is a new vendor to this year’s 3rd Annual Artisan and Home Décor Market is primarily a self-taught artist. For our Artisan and Home Décor Market, Judy will feature seasonal and theme painting on wood, canvas and tins. Abstract nativities, angels, cactus, and stocking holders are a few of her favorites.
