WE’VE COME A LONG WAY BABY

Texas City ISD is celebrating three groundbreaking ceremonies for three new elementary schools. Each brief ceremony will take place on July 29.
Guajardo Elementary, located at 2300 21st Street N. in Texas City,
will begin at 9 a.m. Simms Elementary, located at 529 N. Westward in Texas City, will begin at 10 a.m. Hayley Elementary, located at 1431 Bayou Road in La Marque, will begin at 10:45 a.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. On May 5, 2018, 70 percent of the voters approved a $136.1 million
school bond referendum for Texas City ISD. These three projects are
recipients of that bond. IBI Group is the contracted architecture firm.
TCISD Administrators, staff and personnel attended numerous design
meetings and provided IBI with all the necessary input and direction as
part of the Design Committee during both the Schematic Design Phase
and the Design Development Phase. Their involvement and guidance
have been critical to the success of the project.

schools will soon be completed, but because they reflect our community’s
commitment to education and providing our children with opportunity.
It was amazing to see how the community pulled together to make these
dreams a reality. Everyone involved in this great achievement – the TCISD
Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Cavness, TCISD staff, the facilities
assessment committee volunteers, the bond committee volunteers
and all of the friends and neighbors who supported the bond election
– should feel a great sense of pride and achievement. “
