THE ASTROS CONTINUE THEIR home stand with a key part of the team’s 2017 World Series title team returns to Minute Maid Park. The usual Tuesday night volleyball schedule will include each of the area’s teams hitting the court.
Sunday: The Astros have not announced who would be the starter for their weekend finale against the Angels at 1:10pm. Aaron Sanchez, who was slated to get the start, was placed on the disabled list earlier in the week. Los Angeles will counter with Jamie Barria (4-6, 6.35 ERA) when AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage after the pregame show at 12:30pm.
The Dynamo will be in action up I-45 as they take on FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium at 7:00pm. The game will be broadcast live on FS1 and HoustonDynamo.com.
Monday: No games on the schedule as school begins throughout the area, but Clear Creek’s tennis team will host a Meet the Wildcats event in the Clear Creek High School café beginning at 6:00pm.
Tuesday: All 11 high school volleyball teams will be in action beginning with Clear Creek at Katy, Clear Brook at Kingwood and Clear Falls at Seven Lakes at 5:30pm. Fort Bend Ridge Point at Clear Springs, Friendswood at Deer Park, CE King at La Marque, Santa Fe at Pearland, Hitchcock at Royal, Galveston Ball at Stafford and Dickinson at Texas City are each 6:30pm starts.
In fall team tennis play, Clear Lake at Clear Brook, La Porte at Clear Falls and Clear Springs at Dobie each get under way at 3:00pm.
The Astros continue their 10-game home stand when ace Justin Verlander (15-5, 2.77 ERA) takes the mound against the Rays, who bring their ace – and former Astros star – Charlie Morton (13-5, 2.85 ERA) in the series opener beginning at 7:10pm. Morton got the edge over Verlander when he gained a 4-2 win at Tampa Bay in the regular season opener on March 29. Morton’s Homecoming will hit the air on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest after the pregame show on 6:30pm.
