A QUIET WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY should be regarded as rest days, particularly when a look at the Friday schedule has just about everything a fan could ask for.

Wednesday: There are no high school varsity games on the schedule.

Thursday: Similar to Wednesday, but that’s good, considering one will need to take a deep breath for what’s coming on Friday.

Friday: The road to the high school wrestling state finals will take regional qualifiers to Katy for a two-day tourney that will decide who makes the trip to bid for state glory.

The final Friday of the boys’ high school basketball season will have Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls, state-ranked Dickinson at Clear Lake, Baytown Lee at Friendswood and Texas City at Galena Park each beginning at 7:00pm. State-ranked La Marque visits Bay City at 7:30pm.

In boys’ high school soccer, Friendswood at Baytown Lee, Clear Lake at Clear Book, Clear Creek at Clear Springs, Alvin at Dickinson, Galveston Ball at Memorial, Crosby at Santa Fe and Galena Park at Texas City each get underway at 7:30pm.

The girls’ high school soccer schedule will have Dickinson at Alvin, Clear Springs at Clear Creek, Clear Brook at Clear Lake, Santa Fe at Crosby, Baytown Lee at Friendswood, Texas City at Galena Park and Memorial at Galveston Ball are each 7:30pm starts.

A busy slate of high school baseball scrimmages begins with Alvin at Friendswood at 3:45pm, followed by Dickinson at Angleton, Pasadena Memorial at Clear Brook, Deer Park at Clear Creek, Texas City at Clear Falls, Galveston Ball at Clear Springs and Brazos at Santa Fe each starting at 4:00pm.

Likewise, the high school softball scrimmage schedule is active. Shadow Creek at Clear Creek starts at 6:00pm, followed by Manvel at Santa Fe and South Houston at Texas City at 6:30pm.

The track and field schedule begin to heat up with Clear Brook, Clear Creek (girls’), Dickinson and Santa Fe among the schools competing at the Brown Relays in Pasadena, while Clear Falls and Clear Springs are at the Morris Relays at Pearland High School.

Somehow, the schedule has room for high school tennis, with Clear Brook at Deer Park while Dickinson hosts a tournament that will also include Galveston Ball. Both tourneys will start at 8:00am.

Saturday: There will be a handful of high school softball scrimmages, as Clear Falls and Clear Springs take part in a tri-scrimmage at Pasadena Dobie. Dickinson is also in a tri-scrimmage beginning at noon as they partner up with La Porte and Goose Creek Memorial.
