The potentially historic Arctic blast that has gripped the area will greatly impact the schedule that begins the week. That will also include girls’ high school basketball area round games that include Clear Creek, Clear Springs, Dickinson and Hitchcock, each of whom advanced with bi-district round victories on Thursday night. Tuesday could be altered as morning temperatures in the mid-teens will make the baseball, soccer and softball schedules a dicy proposition. 

Sunday: Nothing on the schedule. Bundle up and enjoy your chilly Valentine’s Day.

Monday: Opening day of high school softball season begins with Dobie at Clear Brook at 6:00pm, followed by Clear Springs at Pearland and Friendswood at state-ranked Dickinson at 6:30pm.

There’s also high school baseball scrimmages on the schedule as Clear Creek at Manvel starts at 3:00pm. Santa Fe at Clear Brook and Travis at Clear Falls start at 4:00pm, while Clear Springs at Episcopal begins at 5:00pm. South Houston at Texas City gets underway at 7:00pm.

The Rockets visit the nation’s capitol when they square off against the Wizards beginning at 6:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage with the pregame show at 5:30pm.

Tuesday: The high school boys’ soccer schedule will have Clear Springs at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Brazoswood, Dickinson at Clear Lake, Texas City at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at La Porte, Hargrave-Huffman at La Marque and Santa Fe at Baytown Lee. Each match starts at 7:30pm. Hitchcock at Palacios had yet to announce a start time as of Friday.

Meanwhile, the girls’ high school soccer slate has Hargrave-Huffman at La Marque at 5:30pm, followed by Clear Brook at Clear Springs, Brazoswood at Clear Falls, Clear Lake at Dickinson, Friendswood at Texas City, La Porte at Galveston Ball and Baytown Lee at Santa Fe each beginning at 7:30pm.

The first week of the high school softball regular season schedule continues with state-ranked Santa Fe at Clear Creek beginning at 6:00pm, followed by Clear Falls at North Shore and Pasadena Memorial at Texas City starting at 6:30pm.

High school baseball scrimmages continue with Galveston Ball at Galena Park at 4:00pm, with Angleton Christian at La Marque beginning at 5:00pm, and Kempner at state-ranked Friendswood at 6:00pm.
