Bolivar: GOOD. 81 degrees. Fishing has been great with lots of redfish and sharks using squid and mullet. A few flounder caught on artificials and finger mullet.

Trinity Bay: GOOD. 84 degrees. The flood of freshwater affects fishing the most in the shallow waters of the bay complex, decreasing the salinity of the water. After so much rain and wind, the water clarity is also affected and makes visibility another issue. Everything should be calming down and fishing picking back up by the weekend.

East Galveston Bay: FAIR. 81 degrees. Following the recent thunderstorms and rain, the water clarity in the bay will be murky affecting visibility. This time of year the jetty fishing is usually good. It’s been a tough few days, however, so not catching as many big bull reds. The good news is we’ve been hooking a few sheepshead and redfish as well, as well as a lot of hard heads. To fish those Texas slams, flounder, speckled trout, slot redfish, fish in the bay using artificials, and live shrimp.

Texas City: GOOD. 81 degrees. Following the recent thunderstorms and rain, the water clarity in the bay will be murky affecting visibility. This time of year the jetty fishing is usually good. Freeport: GOOD. 82 degrees. The water levels have risen, scattering the fish after the rains from Tropical Storm Nicholas. Drifting with a popping cork and shrimp will be your best bet for catches.

East Matagorda Bay: FAIR. 82 degrees. Fishing has improved after the recent cold fronts. Shrimp are coming out of the marsh, so the fish are feeding, and you can spot the schools by chasing the bird activity that has started to pick up. Wade fishing is good. We are coming up on equinox tides, which means the redfish will be good.

Port O’Connor: GOOD. 84 degrees. The water is clearing up to normal green color. A few tarpon (up to 30-pounds) have been caught using live croaker. Plenty of trout near the jetties on live croaker and live shrimp. Slot numbers of redfish are biting on sardines and shrimp. Black drum are good on dead shrimp.
