Baseball season is over, so the focus goes to girls’ basketball to open the week. Boys’ hoops will get its final scrimmages out of the way to lead into its 2021-22 regular season openers this weekend.
Sunday: Quarterback Tyrod Taylor returns to the Texans lineup as they seek to snap a six-game losing streak at the expense of the host Dolphins beginning at 12:00pm. The game will be aired on Fox 26.
That Fox 26 is airing the Texans is bad news for local Cowboys fans, as their matchup against the Broncos at 12:00pm is also being broadcast on Fox. That means a local sports bar or dropping in on a friend who has NFL Sunday Ticket. If you choose to visit a friend, just be kind and bring something besides yourself.
The Rockets continue their swing out west with a visit to the Warriors at 7:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage beginning with the pregame show at 7:00pm.
Monday: Texas City’s boys’ golf team will be among the teams participating at a tournament at Moody Gardens Golf Course. Galveston Ball will be the host school.
In girls’ basketball, Clear Falls at Angleton tips off at 7:00pm.
The boys’ basketball scrimmage schedule has Galveston Ball and Santa Fe playing at Brazoswood at 4:30pm.
Texas City’s softball team continues its fall schedule when the Stings welcome Brazoswood for a 7:30pm start.
Tuesday: A busy evening of girls’ basketball starts with Westbury at Dickinson, and Friendswood at Houston Christian each starting at 6:00pm, followed by Brazosport at Hitchcock and La Marque at Baytown Sterling at 6:30pm. Clear Brook at Pasadena Memorial, Fort Bend Bush at Clear Creek, Shadow Creek at Clear Springs, Crosby at Santa Fe and Texas City at Rosenberg Terry are each 7:00pm starts.
The final slate of boys’ basketball scrimmages will have Clear Creek at Strake Jesuit, and La Marque at Goose Creek Memorial at 4:00pm, followed by a tri-scrimmage at 4:30pm in Brazoswood that includes Galveston Ball and Santa Fe. Clear Brook will host a team scrimmage at 4:00pm, while a tri-scrimmage at Dawson which includes Clear Falls and Texas City and a scrimmage with Clear Springs at Friendswood have not announced their start times.
