to Support Galveston County Food Bank’s Vital Services
Del Papa Distributing Company recently gifted $75,000 in matching funds to support the Galveston County Food Bank’s efforts to provide easy access to nutritional food to the thousands of Galveston County residents facing food insecurity. They also provide these individuals and families with resources beyond food, connecting them to other agencies and services that can assist with needs such as childcare, job placement, family therapy, healthcare and other resources that can help get them back on their feet and on the path to recovery and/or self-sufficiency. This match grant challenge is a call to action to the greater Galveston County community to support the Galveston County Food Bank during the holiday season.
“The COVID pandemic and economic inflation has caused the demand for our services to skyrocket”, said Donnie VanAckeren, President and CEO of the Galveston County Food Bank. “This generous matching grant from Del Papa Distributing will help us provide nutritious meals for thousands of our neighbors throughout Galveston County. On behalf of the Galveston County Food Bank, our staff and our Board of Directors, thank you for helping us lead the fight to end hunger in Southeast Texas.”
“Del Papa Distributing, founded in Galveston in 1910 understands and appreciates the commitment of the Galveston County Food Bank and its mission of addressing food insecurity issues in Galveston County,” said Peter Williamson, VP Corporate Relations and Communications. “This matching gift seeks to double the value of every dollar raised through all donations and helps further the mission of ending food security in our county.” For more information on how to volunteer or to make a donation please check out https://www.galvestoncountyfoodbank.org/ for more information.
