The first weekend of the softball season will be highlighted by a host of tournaments involving each of the area’s teams. There’s also plenty of soccer on the schedule, while the final baseball scrimmages before the start of the regular season dominate Friday’s schedule.
Wednesday: The Rockets close out the first half of the regular season with a 7:00pm start at the Grizzlies. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Thursday: It’s tourney time for area softball teams, starting with Clear Brook at the San Antonio Holmes Tourney with Clear Creek, Clear Springs and Friendswood competing at the NFCA Tournament in College Station. Clear Falls will be among the teams at the GISD Tournament hosted by Galveston Ball, while Dickinson is at the CSE Varsity Tournament. Hitchcock is at the Stafford Tournament, and Santa Fe is at the Brenham Tournament.
Area girls’ powerlifters will head to Alvin for the Last Chance Qualifier for regionals at 4:30pm.
Texas City’s track team competes at the North Shore Relays.
Friday: A host of baseball scrimmages are on tap, beginning with Dobie at Clear Brook and Brazosport at Galveston Ball at 3:30pm, followed by Clear Lake at Texas City at 4:00pm. Clear Creek at Kingwood, Clear Falls at Goose Creek Memorial and Friendswood at Santa Fe each start at 4:30pm, while Houston Scarborough at La Marque begins at 6:00pm. Anahuac at Hitchcock concludes the schedule at 7:00pm.
In softball, La Marque heads out to the Fort Bend Tournament.
The boys soccer schedule will have Clear Falls at Clear Brook, Brazoswood at Clear Creek, Dickinson at Clear Springs, Friendswood at Galveston Ball, Santa Fe at La Porte and Texas City at Manvel starting at 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, the girls soccer schedule will have Clear Brook at Clear Falls, Clear Creek at Brazoswood, Clear Springs at Dickinson, Galveston Ball at Friendswood, Manvel at Texas City and La Porte at Santa Fe also start at 7:30pm.
The track and field slate has Clear Creek at the Cy Ranch Relays.
Saturday: Track and field has the stage as Clear Brook is at the Buffalo Relays, while Clear Creek is at the Cy Ranch Relays. Clear Falls, Dickinson and Friendswood are each competing in the Strake Jesuit Relays.
