Placed as the top seed in the South Region, the University of Houston’s men’s basketball team starts NCAA tourney play against Longwood on Friday night. A win would set up the Cougars for a potential second-round matchup against ninth seed Texas A&M, who plays eighth seed Nebraska on Friday evening.

Thursday: The Rockets host the Bulls beginning at 7:00pm. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Friday: Baseball action begins at 6:00pm with Brazoswood at Clear Brook, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Clear Springs, Galveston Ball at Manvel, La Marque at Sweeny and Angleton at Texas City. Friendswood at Santa Fe and Hempstead at Hitchcock both start at 7:00pm.
La Marque at Sweeny gets the softball slate underway at 6:00pm, followed by Clear Springs at Clear Brook, Dickinson at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Clear Lake, Friendswood at Manvel, Legacy School of Sports Science at Galveston Ball and Santa Fe at Texas City each begin at 6:30pm.
Texas City’s tennis team hosts the Beachcomber Classic, a two-day tournament that begins at 9:00am.
The track and field schedule will have Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Clear Falls at the Charger Relays, which are hosted by Clear Springs. Dickinson’s boys are the Port Arthur Relays, while Friendswood and Santa Fe are in Angleton for the Purnell Relays. La Marque will be in Sweeny for the Bulldog Relays.
Top seed Houston begin their bid for a trip to the Final Four when they take on 16th-seed Longwood in a first round game at Memphis’ FedEx Forum beginning approximately at 8:20pm. The game will be live on TNT.
Saturday: Dickinson’s girls’ track and field team will be at the Klein ISD Relays.
In the second of three straight home games, the Rockets tip off against the Jazz at 7:00pm. Space City Home Network hits the air at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
