The new high school girls’ basketball season begins on Friday and everyone has an equal chance to land in the postseason in February. The next to last week of high school football season starts while boys basketball scrimmage play gets going on Saturday.
Wednesday: No games on the schedule.
Thursday: Clear Brook at Clear Lake (Challenger Columbia) kicks off Week 10 of the high school football season at 6:00 pm, while Santa Fe at Randle starts at 7:00 pm.
The Rockets visit the defending Western Conference champion Mavericks at 7:30 pm. Space City Home Network begins coverage with the pregame show at 7:00 pm.
Friday: Opening night of the 2024-25 girls basketball season tips off with Texas City at Stafford at 5:00 pm. Baytown Sterling at La Marque starts at 6:00 pm and Ball at Randle at 6:30 pm. Houston Memorial at Clear Creek, La Porte at Clear Falls, and Clear Springs at Ridge Point start at 7:00 pm.
The penultimate week of high school football kicks off at 7:00 pm with Brazoswood at Clear Creek (Veterans’ Memorial), Clear Springs at Deer Park, Dickinson at Clear Falls (Challenger Columbia) Kingwood Park at Friendswood (Clear Life Media Game of the Week), Ball at Beaumont Westbrook, state-ranked Hitchcock at Yoakum, La Marque at Columbia, and Fort Bend Marshall at Texas City (Victory Sports Net).
Friendswood hosts Dawson in a volleyball tune-up match at 4:15 pm.
Saturday: Boys’ high school basketball scrimmage play starts with Clear Creek at Pearland at 8:00 am, Clear Brook at Pasadena Memorial, and state-ranked La Marque at Houston Westside at 9:00 am. Clear Springs at Ridge Point begins at 10:00 am, while Texas City at Houston Chavez starts at noon. Friendswood at Clements goes at 1:00 pm. As of Monday, the start time for Clear Falls at Clear Springs is yet to be announced.
One girls basketball game on the slate has Dickinson at Pearland at 1:30 pm.
The college football schedule starts at 2:00 pm with Prairie View at Mississippi Valley State and Houston Christian at Incarnate Word (ESPN+), followed by #17 Kansas State at Houston (KRIV26) at 2:30 pm. Navy at Rice (ESPN+), Stephen F. Austin at Nicholls State (ESPN+), Southeastern Louisiana at Lamar (ESPN+), and Texas Southern at Florida A&M (ESPN+) each start at 3:00 pm. The day ends with #10 Texas A&M at South Carolina (KTRK13) at 6:30 pm.
Stephen Curry and the Warriors visit Toyota Center for a 7:00 pm date against the Rockets. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6:30 pm with the pregame show.
