GUEST COLUMN
The Lent season is important to all believers. It is a time when Christians become more aware of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of their sins.
Many people choose to make a personal sacrifice to show respect to Christ. They fast giving up a favorite food or activity. Churches also join the activities by sponsoring pancake suppers, fish fries and holding special services celebrating Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and the important days. This is good.
Others during this important time show love for their neighbors. They give to the poor. This effort is commended in bible scripture. God loves a cheerful giver. Jesus Christ said, “Whatever you do for the least in my kingdom, you do for me” (Matthew 25: 31-46).
Support for Evangelical crusades should be the highest of priorities during Lent or at any other time. God loves everyone, forgives all sins and offers heaven to all who believe in him. There is a surprising number of people in society who are ignorant of God’s desires to welcome them into the heavenly kingdom He has prepared for them. What greater gift can we give a person than introducing them to eternal salvation.
Jesus Christ said, “All who hear my words and believe in Him who sent me have eternal life and will not be condemned.” In the Great Commission, Jesus Christ ordered all of his apostles to spread the word to all nations.
According to bible scripture, “there is more joy in heaven out of one sinner who repents that over ninety-nine (99) who need no repentance.” (Luke 5:7)
