Come sit in the driver’s seat and see what it feels like to be behind the wheel! Texas City ISD will have multiple buses and drivers on site during the Job Fair on July 16-18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 19 9th Street N. in Texas City. Prospective drivers should plan to take the five written tests associated with a Class B license and obtain a permit. Once that has been accomplished, candidates will be interviewed and, if hired, trained to prepare for the driving portion of the commercial driver’s license.
Basic Requirements:
• Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol tests and annual physical exam
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Proficient map reading skills
• Ability to manage student behavior
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (Once the CDL learner’s permit is achieved after passing the written tests, TCISD will train drivers for the driving portion requirement.)
• Ability to operate a school bus safely
• Knowledge or the Texas City/La Marque area
