HOUSTON SPORTS FANS are counting on basking in the glory of the Astros having already clinched the American League instead of having them face the Yankees in a decisive Game 7 that would be played on Sunday night. It necessary, it would be the capper to a busy Sunday that starts with the Texans hitting the road against the Colts.
Sunday: Coming off a big road win over the Chiefs, the 4-2 Texans will look to keep the momentum going in an AFC South Division clash against the 3-2 Colts. It’s the first of two regular season meetings between the rivals, one that can be seen on KHOU 11 beginning at noon.
The Cowboys (3-3) host their longtime NFC East rival Eagles (3-3) as they seek to snap a three-game losing streak. The clash gets national attention as KPRC 2 will broadcast the Sunday Night Football game at 7:20pm
Barring the very, very unforeseen, Game 7 of the American League Championship Series would be played at Minute Maid Park. Houston came into Friday holding a commanding 3-1 lead and turned to Justin Verlander with the opportunity to clinch the Astros’ second American League title in the past three years. If necessary, FS1 will have the game live beginning at 6:38pm.
Monday: No games scheduled.
Tuesday: The next to last Tuesday of regular season volleyball play starts at 5:30pm with La Marque at Brazosport and Clear Creek at The Woodlands. Clear Springs at Alvin, Dickinson at Clear Brook and Clear Lake at Clear Falls each begin at 6:00pm followed by Palacios at Hitchcock getting underway at 6:15pm. Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, Crosby at Friendswood and Santa Fe at Texas City begin their matches at 6:30pm.
Galveston Ball plays host for a high school boys’ golf meet at Moody Gardens. Texas City will be among the teams participating in the event.
