THE HOUSTON AREA BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION dropped into Dickinson on Thursday to honor Gators boys’ basketball coach Jason Wilson and senior star Tramon Mark as its 2019-20 Coach of the Year and Player of the Year.
Denied the chance to play for the 6A state title, Wilson guided the Gators to a 32-5 record and the Region III championship, capping off a five-year run that has seen Wilson record a combined record of 137-40. Dickinson finished the year ranked as the 14th-ranked team in the nation according to MaxPreps.com.
Mark earned his latest accolade as the University of Houston-bound standout ranked among the top scorers in the nation with an average of 29.3 points per game. Mark also pulled in 6.4 rebounds along with chipping in 3.7 assists and 2.2 steals per contest.
Ranked 69th overall in ESPN’s top 100 in the Class of 2020, Mark was one of the gems of Houston’s recruiting class and is expected to immediately contribute to a program that is projected to open next season ranked among the nation’s top 15 teams.
