Former Houston Astros All-Star and Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Morgan passed away at the age of 77 on Monday morning. Morgan began his career with the then-Colt .45s at the age of 19 in 1963 and remained with the franchise before being traded to the Cincinnati Reds after the 1971 season. Morgan won two National League Most Valuable Player awards (1975-1976) with the Reds while helping guide them to a pair of World Series titles. He returned to Houston in 1980 and played a role in the Astros’ first playoff team that season. Morgan was eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1990.
