SPORTACULAR STRETCH OF ACTION HIGHLIGHTS WEEKEND

WITH SPRING BREAK around the corner, the high school sports schedule will be filled
with Wednesday night soccer and Saturday afternoon softball. One of the Houston
area’s more competitive high school track and field events will also be held as the
Creek Relays will see a host of participants who could find themselves in Austin for the
state finals in May.
TODAY, WEDNESDAY: The high school sports scene will be unusually busy on a
Wednesday, with three soccer matches on tap. In boys play, Clear Springs at Clear
Brook and Clear Lake at Friendswood are both 7:30pm starts while Dickinson at Clear
Creek, the lone girls soccer game, will also be played at 7:30pm.
Texas City’s girls golf team will be among the schools taking part at a meet held at
Stonbridge Golf Course.
The Rockets start a road trip that begins with a visit to the Bucks beginning at 7:00pm.
AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
TOMORROW, THURSDAY: Baseball tournament play will see Clear Brook,
Friendswood and Galveston Ball each competiting at the Alvin ISD Tournament while
Dickinson and Santa Fe are at the Barbers Hill tourney. Clear Creek is at the Crosby
Tournament while Clear Falls participates at the Brenham Tournament. Rounding out
the list of area teams in tourneys are Clear Springs, who is at the Kempner Tournament
and Texas City, which will take part in the Fort Bend ISD Tournament.
A pair of soccer matches are also on the schedule with Clear Creek at Dickinson
(boys) starting at 7:30pm and Clear Brook taking on Clear Springs (girls) at Challenger/
Columbia Stadium beginning at 7:30pm.
The boys golf team of Texas City will be with a host of area schools at an event at
Battleground Golf Course.
FRIDAY: Track and field will be among the day’s highlights as most of the area’s teams
will be involved at the Creek Relays. Coming off the heels of last weekend’s Gator
Relays, this event will help heat up the track and field scene leading into the upcoming
TSU Relays in Houston.
In boys soccer, Galveston Ball at Manvel starts at 7:00pm while Shadow Creek at Texas
City kicks off at 7:10pm. Santa Fe at Fort Bend Willowridge will start at 7:30pm.
The girls soccer schedule will have Manvel at Galveston Ball at 7:00pm and Texas City
at Shadow Creek at 7:10pm. Fort Bend Willowridge at Santa Fe will begin at 7:30pm.
A busy softball slate starts at 6:30pm with Dickinson at Clear Springs, Clear Falls at
Clear Lake, Galena Park at Galveston Ball and Texas City at Santa Fe while Alvin at
Clear Creek begins at 6:45pm.
A trip north of the border awaits the Rockets when they face the Raptors in a game
carried by AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starting at 6:30pm. The pregame show begins
the coverage at 6:00pm.
The day’s only non-tourney baseball game will see La Marque at Brazosport starting
at 6:00pm.
SATURDAY: Two softball games are on tap as Galveston Ball at Galena Park and
Texas City at Santa Fe each start at 1:30pm.
