On July 27th, League City saw the opening of its newest pet store—Pet Supplies Plus. Located
at 1357 East League City Parkway Suite 200, this store is owned by the Barrett brothers—Matt
and Brian. I recently had the chance to speak to Matt Barrett about everything the store offers,
and how they are doing in their first two months in business.
Pet Supplies Plus is the third largest pet retail company in the county. It was opened by the
Barrett Brothers, who have been animal lovers since they were children. Having grown up in
Kingwood and currently residing in Houston, both Matt and Brian are no strangers to pets and
pet care, seeing as they have a miniature Golden Doodle and a terrier mix, respectively.
“We push a pet-centric environment,” Matt told me. This means that people can bring their
pets into the store with them while shopping. The shopping environment itself is quite easygoing,
and you can take all the time you need to browse and find those perfect supplies that
your animal friend may need.
But that’s not all! Because Pet Supplies Plus also has a self-service dog wash, a grooming
salon, live adoptions and VIP Pet Care. Matt told me that they have recently hired a groomer
and their grooming salon is now up and running.
He also told me that, though they have not had
any dogs adopted, they have seen 12 cats go to
loving homes. “We are in the process of contacting
shelters for dog adoptions, but we are also
thinking of having dogs from breed specific shelters
on different days” Matt told me.
It is clear that Pet Supplies Plus is doing quite
well in its first few months since opening and I,
for one, look forward to seeing its growth, success
and the heights it is bound to reach.
