SPRING BREAK STILL means area high school teams will keep pushing to gain an early foothold
atop the standings. Outside of the Rockets, baseball is the sport of choice, including more
spring training games from the Astros and the start of the Little League season in Texas City.
Wednesday: Winners of eight straight coming into Monday night’s game against the Hornets,
the Rockets will look to continue their regular season mastery of the Warriors when the
defending World Champs come into Toyota Center for an 8:30pm tip that will be aired on ESPN.
Houston has won all three regular season meetings against Golden State, most recently a 118-
112 victory in Oakland on February 23. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will also broadcast the game,
opening with the pregame show at 8:30pm.
With Opening Day two weeks away, the Astros continue to set their roster as they visit the
Mets in spring training action beginning at 12:10pm. KBME 790AM will have the game on a
delayed basis.
Thursday: The high school baseball schedule will have two games on tap, with Galveston Ball at
Galena Park and Friendswood at Santa Fe each beginning at 1:00pm.
Astros fans get to see them in action on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest when Houston hosts the
Mets for a 12:05pm start with the pregame show beginning at 11:30am.
Friday: All but one of the day’s high school baseball games will be afternoon affairs. Clear Creek
at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Clear Springs and Clear Lake at Dickinson will each begin at
1:00pm, followed by Baytown Lee at Texas City at 2:00pm. Palacios at Hitchcock will begin at
7:00pm.
The Rockets hope to keep the good times rolling at Toyota Center when the Suns bring the
worst record in the Western Conference to town for a 7:00pm tip. Houston won the first
meeting between the teams this season with a 118-110 victory in Phoenix on February 4. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will have the game live beginning with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
Saturday: A Texas City tradition continues as the city’s Little League baseball clubs take part in
the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Beginning at 9:00am, the parade concludes at Godard Park,
where the league will start its Opening Day ceremonies.
La Marque High School will host an alumni game at Cougar Field. The school is inviting players
from the past to take part in the event. A start time has not been confirmed but those
interested can go to the TCISD Athletic page for updates.
It’s radio only for the Astros when they take on the Phillies beginning at 12:05pm. KBME 790AM
will have the game live.
