Weather or not, playoffs games still to be played
WEATHER PLAYED HAVOC TO the high school baseball and softball playoff schedules, with each
sport seeing games pushed back to late Friday afternoon in hopes of avoiding an overflow of
games played on Saturday. With few high school sporting events on the schedule, the start of
the week is driven mostly by the Astros and the Rockets, the latter of which is hoping to have
reason to be mentioned in the next On The Field.
Sunday: The Astros give the ball to Justin Verlander (4-1, 2.45 ERA) in the series finale at the
Angels, who will start Matt Harvey (1-2, 6.54 ERA). ESPN will have the game live at 3:10pm from
Estadio de Beisbol in Monterrey, Mexico, while AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its
coverage at 2:30pm with the pregame show.
Monday: Returning to Minute Maid Park, the Astros go with Gerrit Cole (2-4, 3.95 ERA) as they
start a three-game series against the visiting Royals. Cole, who pitched seven shutout innings in
a win over the Twins on Tuesday, will be countered by Kansas City hurler Jakob Junis (3-2, 5.12
ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage at 6:30pm, which leads up to the 7:10
start time.
The Rockets will have hope tonight’s Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the
Warriors isn’t their 2019-20 finale. Golden State won the first two games before playing Game
3 at Toyota Center on Saturday night. TNT will have the national broadcast beginning at
8:30pm.
Tuesday: Collin McHugh (3-3, 4.97 ERA) is the pitcher of choice for the Astros in the middle
game of the series against the Royals beginning at 7:10pm. Danny Duffy (0-1, 5.40 ERA) makes
just his third start of the season for Kansas City. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start coverage
with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
The Texas City High School soccer teams will host their annual banquet at Doyle Center
beginning at 5:30pm.
