Sports camp season begins throughout area
AREA YOUTH will have a chance to participate in a variety of camps throughout the area while
the Astros continue their swing on the west coast, ending a weekend set at Oakland before
making the trip to the heart of the Pacific Northwest against the Mariners.
Sunday: Gerrit Cole (5-5, 4.02 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros in the series finale against
the Athletics beginning at 3:07pm. Oakland will counter with Chris Bassitt (4-1, 3.27 ERA). AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will begin its coverage beginning at 2:30pm.
The Houston Dash will also be on the west coast as they visit Reign FC beginning at 3:00pm. The
two teams clashed to a 1-1 draw in the regular season opener at BBVA Compass Stadium on
April 14.
Monday: The first full week of summer vacation opens with a host of sports camps throughout
the area. To find a camp in your area, look on this page for a list of upcoming camps that will be
held at various local high schools.
Rookie Corbin Martin (1-1, 5.51 ERA) looks to bounce back from the toughest start of his brief
career when he takes the mound for the Astros in the opener of a four-game set at the
Mariners. Former Astros hurler Wade LeBlanc (2-2, 6.99 ERA) will get the start for Seattle when
the game begins at 9:00pm. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN, while AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest starts its coverage at 8:30pm.
Tuesday: The Astros turn to Wade Miley (5-3, 3.25 ERA) in the second game of their series
against the Mariners, who will counter with rookie Yusei Kikuchi (3-2, 3.82 ERA). AT&T Sportnet
Southwest will begin its evening at 8:30pm with the pregame show.
