THE LOCAL SPORTS WORLD continues to offer normalcy at the start of a new week, beginning with the pros and ending with a Tuesday night filled with high school volleyball. Slowly, the things we treasured are coming back, and that’s always a good thing.

Sunday: The day marks the regular season home finale for the Astros as Jose Urquidy (1-1, 2.70 ERA) takes the mound for Houston against Arizona’s Madison Bumgarner (0-4, 8.53 ERA) beginning at 1:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins coverage at 12:30pm with the pregame show.

It’s a big afternoon for Houston sports, albeit with no fans in attendance, as the Texans welcome reigning NFL MVP and Madden 21 coverman Lamar Jackson and the Ravens starting at 3:25pm. KHOU-11 will have the game following the conclusion of the Jaguars-Titans contest that kicks off at 12:00pm.

Cowboys fans may have to head elsewhere to watch them square off against the Falcons at noon. Since the Texans are at home and KHOU-11 carries CBS’ doubleheader, KRIV-26 will instead have the Washington Football Team at the Cardinals beginning at 3:05pm.

Monday: The Astros begin the final week of the regular season with the first of three games at the Mariners starting at 8:10pm. Houston hands the ball to Lance McCullers Jr. (3-2, 4.87 ERA) while Seattle will bring Marco Gonzales (6-2, 3.49 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts its coverage at 7:30pm with the pregame show.

Tuesday: The high school volleyball schedule begins with Clear Brook at Deer Park and Katy at Clear Creek at 5:30pm. Houston Harmony at Hitchcock begins at 6:00pm, followed by Clear Falls at Barbers Hill, Dawson at Clear Springs, Dickinson at Angleton, Galveston Ball at La Porte, La Marque at Needville and Texas City at Friendswood each starting at 6:30pm.

Texas City’s tennis team will be in action at Baytown Lee at 4:00pm.
