Area runners bid for state cross-country title

THE AREA WILL BE well-represented in Round Rock when the UIL state cross-country finals take place on Monday and Tuesday. The girls 5A finalists start at 2:30pm on Monday, with the boys going at 3:15pm. Class 6A girls runners will begin at 2:30pm on Tuesday, while the 6A boys will wrap up the meet at 3:15.

The Friendswood High School boys’ team of Daniel Armstrong, Carlos Henriquez, Brycen Jones, Eli Karg, Zade Kayyali Ronan O’Donnell and Seth Thompson will look to translate their success in the Region III finals and bring home a state title. The Mustangs will also have Kyla Zalit representing them in the girls’ finals.

Clear Falls’ girls team of Kaitlyn Gale, Madison Hill, Ana and Ashleigh Loe, Victoria Ruiz, Siri Harris-Ryden and Kennedy Wade will seek to bring home gold for the Knights on Tuesday. For the boys’ final, Cody Ayres of Clear Falls and Sean Gambrell of Clear Springs will represent the area.
