The GCSI and University of Texas at Arlington’s Division for Enterprise Development – Public Works Institute, Environmental Training Institute, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Education Center have partnered to deliver professional and technical training to a diverse set of public works, safety and health and environmental professionals.

“Being knowledgeable about workplace hazards and employee rights helps contribute to both the productivity and safety culture at one’s worksite. It is important that workers are trained and educated,” said Cindy Lewis, Director of the Gulf Coast Safety Institute. “These courses are comprehensive, but personal and relevant to the ever-changing policies and best practices of safety.”
This continued partnership between the GCSI and the University of Texas at Arlington’s Division for Enterprise Development delivers training on managing safety risks within an organization. These courses prepare individuals to enter the industry or expand their skills and certifications in occupational safety and health as well as environmental fields.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, several new safety measures and protocols will take place to ensure a safe learning environment for class participants. All employees and students entering COM facilities must wear face coverings when in the presence of others and in all common indoor spaces. Classes will not exceed 50 percent of established room capacity and will adhere to health and safety guidance.
All classes are taught at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute at 320 Delany Road in La Marque. To register or for more information, contact the University of Texas at Arlington at 817-272-2581, toll free at 1-866-906-9190, online at www.uta.edu/ded/osha or by email at osha@uta.edu.
