
Bolivar: GOOD. 87 Degrees. Bull redfish and slot redfish are being caught on mullet and squid. Lots of sharks being caught on the beach and the jetty on horse mullet and stingray. Flounder in the jetty biting mullet, minnows, and artificials. Speckled trout and sand trout are in the jetty biting shrimp. As always, crabbing is excellent.
Trinity Bay: GOOD. 86 degrees. High tides from the hurricanes have the fishing off. Fishing remains in the summer pattern, but is shaping up. Channel area fishing is good for speckled trout on live shrimp or croaker. Schools of oversized redfish from 5-miles past the channel to Bird Island. The northwestern and eastern sides of the bay are still solid.
East Galveston Bay: FAIR. 87 degrees. Redfish and speckled trout are still along the shorelines and near the jetties using live shrimp or croaker. You can also find them in the deep water around structures like reefs. Sheepshead are good and will be found primarily around rocks on minnow.
West Galveston Bay: FAIR. 87 degrees. San Luis Pass is proving to be a sure fire spot with a variety of fish. Wade fishing in the west and closer to the pass has seen success. Sand trout and smaller speckled trout are good near Pelican Island. Redfish and trout are good using shrimp on popping corks, croaker bottom rigs. Black tip sharks are good eating whatever you want to give them.
Texas City: GOOD. 87 degrees. Fishing has been good with early morning bites and the summer patterns continue to be consistent. Redfish and speckled trout are good using any kind of live bait.
Freeport: GOOD. 85 degrees. Fishing conditions remain in the summer patterns. Amberjacks are good on live baits. Kingfish are great on ribbon fish. Mahi mahi are good trolling. Cobia fishing are good as well.
East Matagorda Bay
FAIR. 85 degrees. Fishing is slow due to no tidal movement and slow winds. Tides are getting ready to shift later in the week and the equinox tides will bring the redfish back in. If the winds pick up try drifting, but until then wade fishing for redfish will provide the best success. Try live shrimp under a popping cork or croaker. Best success is coming before sunrise and after sunset.
West Matagorda Bay
FAIR. 85 degrees. Fishing is slow due to no tidal movement and slow winds. Tides are getting ready to shift later in the week and the equinox tides will bring the redfish back in. If the winds pick up try drifting, but until then wade fishing for redfish will provide the best success. Try live shrimp under a popping cork or croaker.
Port O’Connor
GOOD. 85 degrees. Fishing is excellent in the Matagorda Jetties. Trout are being caught on large shrimp and croaker 20-30 feet of water. Redfish are being caught on dead sardines and dead shrimp. Black tip sharks and bonnet sharks are biting anything you cast. Tarpon have been rolling at the end of the jetties. Be safe this holiday weekend.
Rockport
FAIR. 85 degrees. Trout are fair catching an early morning bite using croaker in the Lydia Ann Channel. The redfish are biting on cut mullet and cut ladyfish around L reef. Speckled Trout are good on shrimp under a popping cork fishing along the shoreline or around structures. Flounder have been good on minnows around the piers. Black drum are fair above the grass on crab.
