With temperatures no longer set to Broil, this week’s schedule makes up for it with a huge dose of sports. The Astros highlight matters as they seek to eliminate the Twins in the American League Divisional Series while Friday is stocked with high school football and volleyball.
Wednesday: Minnesota’s win on Sunday night means there will be a Game 4 of the American League Divisional Series with either the Twins or Astros looking to stave off elimination. The game starts at 1:07pm and will be aired on FS1.
If you need a more local touch of baseball, Texas City visits Alvin in fall league play beginning at 6:00pm.
College football on Wednesday? Why not? Sam Houston State visits New Mexico State at 8:00pm. CBS Sports Network will have the game live.
Thursday: The road to state begins for area cross-country runners as district titles will be decided. District 24-6A runners will be at League City Hometown Heroes Park, while District 18-5A is at La Porte’s Northwest Park. Meanwhile, District 26-4A will be in Bay City. All three events begin at 8:00am.
The Rockets host the Pelicans at 7:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest begins coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
More college football is on the slate at West Virginia at Houston kicks off at 6:00pm. FS1 will have the game live.
Friday: High school football action begins at 7:00pm with Clear Creek at Clear Brook (Veterans Memorial), Clear Lake at Clear Springs (Challenger/Columbia), Brazoswood at Dickinson, Friendswood at Rosenberg Terry, Galveston Ball at Houston Milby, Galena Park at Santa Fe and Texas City at Fort Bend Willowridge (Victory Sports online). Columbia at state-ranked Hitchcock (Clear Life Media Game of the Week) begins at 7:30pm.
In high school volleyball, Clear Lake at Clear Springs begins at 4:15pm, followed by Van Vleck at Hitchcock and state-ranked Friendswood at Santa Fe at 4:30pm. La Marque at Bay City and Texas City at Angleton both start at 5:30pm, while Clear Brook at Clear Creek and Brazoswood at Dickinson start at 6:30pm. Manvel at Galveston Ball concludes the schedule at 6:30pm.
If necessary, Game 5 of the ALDS between the Twins and Astros begins at 3:07pm and will be aired on FS1.
Saturday: College football Saturday begins at 2:30pm with Texas A&M at #19 Tennessee (KHOU11) and Texas Southern at Bethune-Cookman. Lamar at Southeastern Louisiana (ESPN+) is at 3:00pm, while Stephen F. Austin at Central Arkansas (ESPN+) is at 4:00pm. Prairie View at Houston Christian (ESPN+) is at 6:00pm.
