The Dickinson High School Gator Marching Band had a tremendous showing at the USBands Houston regional contest this past Saturday at Challenger Stadium with their 2023 marching show, “Infinite Ocean.” They earned first place in the preliminary contest and were one of 12 bands chosen to advance to the finals round where they also earned first place. In addition to the overall first place honors, the band earned best visuals, overall effect, and percussion during the preliminary contest, while taking home best music, visuals, effect, and percussion caption awards during the finals round. The band will now compete in the UIL Regional competition, with a scheduled performance of 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 12 at Alvin ISD’s Freedom Field, 10855 County Road 65 in Rosharon. |
At the regional contest, all bands earning an overall “1” rating will advance to the UIL Area competition scheduled for Saturday, October 21 at Challenger Stadium in CCISD. At the area contest, only the top few bands are chosen to advance to the UIL 6A State Marching Contest October 30-31 in San Antonio. The weekend in between the regional and area contests, the DHS band will compete in the Lone Star Preview at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14 at Conroe ISD’s Woodforest Bank Stadium, 19115 David Memorial Drive in Shenandoah.
