Sports Schedule Becoming More Busy

This weekend begins with a host of volleyball tournaments and the final football scrimmages. There’s also the Astros visiting the Orioles in a possible postseason preview, while the Texans and Cowboys wrap up the preseason.

Wednesday: Daytime baseball at Minute Maid Park as the Astros host the Red Sox at 1:10 pm. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 12:30 pm with the pregame show. The game can also be seen on MLB Network. 

Thursday: Volleyball tourney play is highlighted by the Dickinson Varsity Tournament that will include Clear Brook, Clear Falls, and Santa Fe. Clear Creek and Friendswood are at the Frauleinfest Varsity Tournament in New Braunfels, while Galveston Ball is at the Huntsville Invitational. Hitchcock is at the Bay City Tournament, while Texas City competes in the Aldine ISD Big Mac Attack Tournament. 

The final scrimmages before the start of the 2024 high school football regular season will have Clear Falls at Pearland, La Marque at New Caney West Falls at 6:00 pm, followed by Clear Creek at Manvel, and Texas City at Brazosport at 7:00 pm.

The Astros visit Baltimore in the first of a four-game set between the leaders in the American League West and American League East. The game starts at 6:15 pm with KRIV26 giving the game national coverage. 

Friday: In volleyball, Clear Falls at Katy Tompkins, and Stratford at Clear Springs begins at 5:30 pm, followed by Santa Fe at Clear Lake at 6:30 pm.

Football scrimmage play has Sweeney at Hitchcock at 5:00 pm, followed by Dawson at Friendswood at 6:30 pm. Fort Bend Hightower at Clear Springs and Galveston Ball at Santa Fe begins at 7:00 pm.

The Astros and Orioles go at 6:05 pm. Space City Home Network begins the pregame show at 5:30 pm. The game can also be seen on MLB Network.

Saturday: After two night games, the Astros and Orioles play under the sun at 3:05 pm. Space City Home Network starts coverage at 2:30 pm. 

The Texans host the Rams in the final preseason game. KTRK13 and NFL Network will have the game live at noon.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys wrap the preseason with a home date against the Chargers at 3:00 pm. NFL Network will have the game live. 

Major League Soccer returns after the Olympic break as the Dynamo hosts Toronto FC at 7:30 pm. The match can be seen as part of the Apple TV+ MLS package.
