
Communities In Schools – Bay Area Receives $15,000 from Celanese Foundation
Houston, TX. July 29, 2019 Communities In Schools – Bay Area is pleased to announce it has received a contribution of $15,000 from the Celanese Foundation to support dropout prevention programming for campus programs in the Clear Creek Independent School District.
Founded in 1989, Communities In Schools – Bay Area is a nonprofit organization that provides school-based services for at-risk and economically disadvantaged students on 16 Clear Creek and Dickinson ISD campuses in Harris and Galveston counties. More than 19,000 students have access to Communities In Schools – Bay Area’s services consisting of campus-wide programming and individualized case management services that include basic needs assistance, academic interventions, resource connection, and behavioral health support. Communities In Schools – Bay Area campus programs are located in the communities of Dickinson, Bacliff, Houston, Webster, League City, and Friendswood.
The Celanese Foundation is an employee-led effort as part of Celanese Corporation. This is the third year that Communities In Schools – Bay Area has been a beneficiary of funding from the Celanese Foundation of Celanese Clear Lake. “Celanese Clear Lake has been a major supporter of our campus programs, not only through the amazing contribution through the Celanese Foundation, but also as an Adopt A School partner for Clear Creek Intermediate School. Throughout the school year Celanese employees volunteered their time by coordinating a backpack drive, making snack and food bags for our economically disadvantaged students, and providing gifts and meals for families in need during the holidays. Celanese is truly committed to making a difference in the lives of at-risk students, and we are grateful and honored to continue this incredible partnership,” stated Dr. Peter Wuenschel, Executive Director of Communities In Schools – Bay Area.
