Why: Galveston College will host a Dedication Ceremony for the college’s new three story, 64,000-square-foot Health Sciences Education Center on Aug. 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. at GC’s main campus, located at 4015 Avenue Q, in Galveston.
The Dedication Ceremony will be held at the Health Sciences Education Center’s main entrance, located between 39th Street and Avenue R. Parking is available at the 39th Street and Avenue Q parking lots.
The Health Sciences Education Center Dedication Ceremony will include brief remarks by GC administration, regents and the GC Foundation, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the new building.
The new Health Sciences Education Center will improve the experience of students and the quality of their education. As a result, GC will be able to better train a highly skilled nursing and health care workforce for Galveston Island and
Texas. GC’s health care programs include: Nursing, Computerized Tomography (CT), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy, Radiography, Surgical
Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) and Healthcare Management.
The community and the media are invited to attend the event and take part in celebrating the completion and dedication of GC’s new Health Sciences Education Center.
Media: One-on-one interviews will be available after the ceremony. Galveston College President W. Myles Shelton, Galveston College Board of Regents Chair, Karen Flowers, and Galveston College Foundation Board Chair Keith McFatridge will be
available for interviews. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony in the Health Sciences Education Center. Tours of the new building will be available.
