STINGS PLACE FOUR ON 23-5A BOYS HOOPS TEAM

TEXAS CITY had three players named to the All-District 23-5A boys basketball team
after the Stingarees finished with a 22-13 record and a trip to the Region III area
round.
Seniors Jacoree Evans, Tee’Shawn Garrett and Adrian Sherwood were each
selected to the first team for the Stings. Evans averaged 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds
per game this past season while Garrett added 10.7 points and a team-best 7.3
boards per game. Sherwood led the team in scoring with 11.8 points and added 3.4
rebounds and 1.6 steals.
Senior J’lhil Allen and junior Dayton Booker were selected to the second team.
Allen, who had 4.3 points per game, was one of the district’s best perimeter defenders
while Booker had 7.8 points and a team-high 2.7 steals per contest.
Galveston Ball senior Kevin Shinette was named to the all-district first team while
Tors seniors Nick Moore, Tony Robbins and Trevon Hamilton were named to the second
team.
Santa Fe was represented by junior Austin Lamb and senior Cisco Silva, who both
were named to the second team.
Shadow Creek junior Tyron Henry was named the 23-5A player of the year while
Manvel Ja’von Walker was selected as the district’s newcomer of the year. Shadow
Creek’s David President and Fort Bend Elkins’ Albert Thomas shared coach of the
year honors.
